Castell de Castells
Castell de Castells, set in rural Costa Blanca, is midway between Valencia and Alicante and 45 minutes inland from the beaches of Denia and Javea. The nightlife of Benidorm and the manufacturing town of Alcoli are 60 minutes away. Castels is reached through the vine covered Jalon Valley and the almond fields of the Vall del Pop. Set in an amphitheater of mountains it is a center for outdoor sports – particularly walking, hiking and biking. At the week end Castells is a mecca for amateur cyclists and in the week home to professional cycling teams. For walkers, all routes are well documented in published books. This peaceful and tranquil village has a bank, a medical center, two grocery shops, a bakery, one good restaurant, one excellent hotel, some typically Spanish bars and numerous guesthouses. With 420 inhabitants this Spanish village it is not blighted by commercial interests or tourism. Quite the opposite in fact as old fashioned politeness is the order of the day.
